Our red shrub roses are very beautiful and very hardy. They bloom for much of the growing season and are very resistant to disease. (We recommend Bayer 3-in-1 Rose and Flower treatment for all of our plants.)
Also known as carpet roses, they can actually get quite tall and wide, and must be pruned after the first bloom (and any time they overgrow their surroundings).
Regardless of the severity of the winter, we have never lost a red shrub rose in the many years that we have grown them, and we have approximately fifteen plants.
Be careful, though, their thorns are sharp and penetrating.
