Brown Beauties are evergreens. Their leaves are greeny and shiny on the top and brown on the bottom.
They have huge, white/cream colored flowers that have clean, almost citrusy, scent. Blooms appear throughout the growing season but never in abudance.
As with most Magnolias, they tend not be to be the hardiest trees, particularly in northern climates. Their beauty is worth the risk, but the should be grown in sheltered areas–away from the wind and preferably in a place that will prevent scalding. When damaged, they will drop their leaves and may need to be cut-back but rarely die completely.
